Woman Wednesday no. 7: Hyla Nayeri and Adrien Bettio, Founders of 437
Who are Hyla Nayeri & Adrien Bettio?
Hyla Nayeri and Adrien Bettio are the co-founders of 437, a luxury swimwear and apparel brand, with a mission to create the perfect swimwear and apparel for real women with real bodies. The brand’s use of quality fabrics, meticulous cuts and swimwear versatility has led to the brands success. 437 has been featured in Forbes, Cosmopolitan and HYPEBAE and on many notable celebrities and influencers.
What’s their story?
Best friends, Hyla Nayeri and Adrien Bettio were attending Queens University on an exchange program on the Amalfi Coast when they thought of the idea of 437. During their travels Hyla and Adrien noticed an opportunity in the swimwear space for flattering bathing suits that are created for different figures. When Hyla and Adrien returned to Canada they began designing bathing suits inspired by their travels and beachwear that made women feel comfortable and sexy. This led to the creation of 437, a brand named after the Johnson Street address in Kingston, where the two lived as students.
In July 2017, 437 Swimwear launched its staple collection, which was made up of four classic styles. The brand later rebranded itself to simply 437, as it has expanded to include apparel.
Today, Hyla is in charge of sales and marketing, and Adrien is in charge of design and operations. 437 promotes ethical means of production as their garments are manufactured in a female-run factory that ensures fair wages, mandates safe working conditions and schedules fair working hours.
